Istanbul visit

Istanbul, a captivating city, we flew to the busy city in October, a week long vacation.

The hotel was strategically placed in Taksim; 2 minutes to the bus stop, 30 seconds away from Taksim square.

A couple of bus tickets and we roamed the city, all the tourist attractions including Spice and Grand Bazaars, Suleymaniye Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet amongst many others.

The constant rain there brought us immense joy, as it uplifts our spirits, apposed to the scorching summer time in the UAE.

Aside from the awesome time visiting those places, walking for extended amounts of time under the rain, and eating from kiosks on the streets and exploring the alleys of Istanbul was the best thing in this trip.

Definitely we will visit again.

I have never been but my brother went twice. He speaks dreamily about that.
Need to “do” it one day 🙂

    Loved the greenery!

Is it (that) true that locals do not/refuse to speak in English?

True, mostly they don’t know English.
But with the tourism boom the past few years, they warmed up to it. Also, signs on the roads are still in Turkish. Rarely you would find one with both English and Turkish.

You should give it a go. It’s cheap, well worth it.

Just came back from Turkey. In Istanbul, you can get by with little English. In other parts, it’s difficult. Luckily for me, I could read and understand many Turkish words. Picked some more on this visit. Roamed around across Turkey and absolutely loved it, especially the people and their love for us. I think I’ll have to go back the third time just for the hot ait ballooning in Cappadocia, which was cancelled due to windy weather 😕

P.S. People don’t refuse to speak in English. Most of them (including young ones) don’t speak English.
